We currently provide Assistive Technology training for the visually impaired and blind. Assistive Technology, also known as 'AT', is any item, piece of equipment, software program, or product system that is used to increase, maintain, or improve the functional capabilities of persons with disabilities. Training is offered to individuals in either a 1-1 session or a scheduled group session with other individuals who are learning the same types of Assistive Technology. Once a client is onboarded, we will provide a comprehensive Assistive Technology Assessment (ATA) to establish training time, long and short-term goals, and current level of skill. An instructor will then be assigned and work directly with the client to get them set up for classes. Training will then be completed in 1-1 sessions virtually or in person. Group sessions are always available for additional help and are available virtually.
We offer Orientation and Mobility Training for individuals who are blind or visually impaired. Orientation and Mobility Training is a specialized program designed to enhance the independence and mobility of individuals with visual impairments. This training equips them with essential skills, strategies, and techniques to confidently navigate their environment and actively participate in daily activities.
A Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) plays a crucial role in empowering students with visual impairments to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. With expertise in special education and visual impairment, TVIs provide individualized instruction, support, and resources to meet the unique educational needs of their students.
A Certified Vision Rehabilitation Therapist (CVRT) focuses on enhancing the daily living skills of individuals with visual impairments. They specialize in assessing clients' functional vision and developing personalized strategies to improve activities such as personal grooming, meal preparation, household organization, and financial management. CVRTs empower their clients by teaching adaptive techniques and providing guidance on utilizing non-visual cues effectively. Their goal is to foster independence and confidence in navigating daily routines despite visual challenges.
