Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to join our team. The TVI will play a crucial role in providing specialized instruction and support to visually impaired students within different school districts. This position offers a unique opportunity for professional growth and development, with a highly flexible schedule and the chance to work autonomously.
You will be paid in direct time, indirect time, and travel time. You start your day from your driveway and finish in your driveway. We offer offices to work on paperwork, assessments, and lesson prep or you can simply do that from home. A typical day with time spent at schools, working on paperwork, and traveling will be about 8-9 hours.
Interview Process
Responsibilities:
- Travel to different school districts to provide educational services to visually impaired students.
- Attend Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings regularly to collaborate with educators, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement effective educational plans.
- Conduct Functional Vision Assessments (FVAs) and Learning Media Assessments (LMAs) to determine students' educational needs and develop appropriate strategies.
- Provide direct instruction in areas such as braille literacy, orientation and mobility (if certified), adaptive technology (if certfied), and other specialized skills.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to ensure the implementation of accommodations and modifications to facilitate students' access to the curriculum.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with stakeholders, including parents and school personnel.
- Stay updated on best practices, research, and developments in the field of visual impairment education.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education of the Visually Impaired or related field.
- Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) or eligibility for certification.
- Strong knowledge of special education laws and regulations, particularly related to students with visual impairments.
- Experience working with visually impaired students in educational settings.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt instruction to meet the diverse needs of students with visual impairments.
